Tim Watson has made significant contributions to sports journalism, serving as a special commentator for Seven's AFL coverage and anchoring the sports segment of Melbourne's 6pm news bulletin for the past 11 years. During his farewell announcement on Monday night, he expressed his gratitude for his time at Channel 7, highlighting his enjoyment of working alongside fellow anchor Peter Mitchell. Watson stated, "I am finishing up in December... it's been almost 30 years I have been here." He plans to continue working until close to Christmas.

He played 307 games and was a crucial member of the premiership-winning teams in 1984, 1985, and 1993.
